Stop Chasing Rich. Start Building Wealth.

Day 2 - Notes from my reading of book “the psychology of money”

If we’re buying an expensive car, a fancy watch, or anything else mainly to showcase it to the world or earn respect and admiration from others, then something is a little off. The point is not to abandon the pursuit of wealth - in fact, “wealth” isn’t quite the right word here, as you’ll understand later - but to recognize that respect and admiration don’t truly come from material possessions. If earning those is your goal, humanity, kindness, and empathy will take you much further.

There is a difference between wealthy and rich. being rich is about having a high income and being able to afford expensive things you can see but wealth is hidden/invisible. Someone earning ₹30 lakh a year but spending ₹28 lakh may look rich but have little wealth, while someone earning ₹20 lakh, living below their means, and consistently investing may quietly build substantial wealth. Wealth gives you freedom, security, and the ability to control your time.
