AI Innovations, Web Interactions and AI Illustrations
Last week, I discussed Dot by New Computer, a personal AI assistant that learns and grows with you. I've been using it for a while now. While there are still some limitations, if they're addressed in the near future, Dot has the potential to be a fantastic AI companion. One of the limitations I've encountered is the lack of capability to display different media formats or rich text for now. This functionality would significantly enhance the user experience. Here is one of the questions I asked Dot:

This looks simpler but if AI can handle these tasks, it would be great. The prompt mentioned the Dot would require weather information and notification permission. I provided it with my precise location and enabled notifications (assuming it could access weather data from my location). However, it confidently stated it had set the reminder but not reminded me. Now, this might have been a tricky one, but standard reminders seem to be working perfectly fine! This suggests there could be many situations where we seek AI assistance in our daily routines, and I believe achieving this is closer than we think! Putting this aside, Dot is truly engaging to converse with. It feels different than chatting with other AIs. Let's see how it progresses in the next updates.
This payment success interaction shared by Denislav is awesome!
Chrome is adding a new feature called window.ai - a Gemini Nano AI model that will be integrated directly into the browser. This appears to be an effort by Google to bring AI capabilities directly to the web browser, allowing developers to leverage these AI tools within their web applications. On-device AI can provide a snappier user experience, greater access to AI features, and offline usage, though complex use cases may still require server-side support. More details here
Recraft.ai is fantastic for generating similar illustrations or vector art. I've used it for some of my weekly recap thumbnails. They've even added a new feature that lets you generate product mockups too! Check it out and explore its capabilities.
That’s it for this week. Let’s catch up in next one.
On a side note, India won the World Cup 2024. We witnessed some of the most magical moments during the match. Hard work pays off. Congratulations to Team India!
