AI adoption in companies, VS Code keyboard shortcuts and useful tools

AI adoption in companies

Starting this week with my observation about AI adoption in software development. Developers in mid-sized and larger Indian organizations are still not widely incorporating AI into their daily software development practices. This hesitation seems to stem from several factors:

Privacy Concerns

Product owners often restrict AI usage due to concerns about codebase privacy.

Developer Awareness

I think developers in any organizations can be broadly categorized into two groups:

  1. Active Developers: These professionals stay informed about market trends and are aware of AI's potential in software development.
  2. Passive Developers: This group follows their daily routines without actively exploring new technologies. While they may know about AI's existence, they often lack understanding of its full capabilities in software development.

Recommendations for Companies

To leverage the benefits of AI in software development, companies should consider:

  • Exploring and using AI tools that works offline and on device.
  • Providing training and resources to increase awareness about AI's capabilities among all developers.
  • Encouraging developers to conduct proof-of-concept projects with various AI technologies and if it feels okay then gradually integrating AI tools into their software development lifecycle.

Keyboard shortcuts

My advise to junior developer: Learn keyboard shortcuts it improve your productivity to 2x. Here is a cheatsheet for VS Code shortcuts.

Useful tools this week

  • If you've tried multiple websites to remove image backgrounds, you've likely encountered limitations on resolution—most only provide low-resolution results unless you pay for the full resolution. However, if you're looking for a fast, high-quality, bulk background removal tool that maintains the original resolution of your images, web-removebg is the solution.
  • Photo gradient is a great tool to create a mesh gradient from image.

That's it for this week. Let's catch up in next one.
